Randolph County Criminal Docket Searches
Indiana MyCase is the main public search for nonconfidential Randolph County criminal court dockets. Use Case mode when a cause number, citation number, or cross-reference number is known. Only one identifier can be entered at a time. Name mode accepts a last name with optional first or middle name and date of birth. Attorney mode accepts a name or Indiana bar number, but not both. Select Randolph County and the Criminal & Citation category when broad results need to be narrowed.
The strongest key is the full cause number. Randolph County codes begin with 68, followed by a court code such as C01, D01, or H02. The court code matters because it identifies Circuit, Superior, or Union City City Court. MyCase can still list the abolished Winchester City Court in its historical selector, so the court name and filing date must be read before treating a result as a current venue.
- Open MyCase and choose Case, Name/Party, or Attorney mode.
- Enter one identifier, then limit the court and category if needed.
- Open the matching cause and confirm its court code, filing date, and status.
- Read the charge block, CCS entries, settings, orders, plea, and disposition in sequence.
- Call or write the Randolph Clerk for an unlinked filing or certified disposition.
MyCase Fields for Randolph Criminal Dockets
The public form has no separate Randolph criminal database. Its controls search the statewide Odyssey system. File Date From and To use the format mm/dd/yyyy; they limit filing dates, not hearing dates. Status can be All, Open, or Closed. A wildcard may appear only at the end of a term, and results stop at 1,000.
| Control | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Case | Cause, citation, or cross-reference number | One identifier |
| Name | Last name or exact business name | First and middle require last |
| Court | Randolph County or Union City | Historical Winchester remains listed |
| Category | Criminal & Citation | Case type still controls |
Repeated queries may trigger a captcha. That is an anti-data-mining control, not proof that the case has vanished. Save the cause number and return to a focused search.
Criminal Dockets: What They Show
A Randolph County criminal court docket is called a Chronological Case Summary, or CCS, in Indiana court materials. The header links the cause number, court, filing date, case type, judge, caption, and status. Later blocks can show parties and counsel, allegations, bond, hearings, filed motions, orders, money entries, and the final disposition. An allegation is not a judgment. Read the charge block together with the later judgment or dismissal entry.
| Case Number | A synthetic format is 68D01-YYMM-CM-#####; C01 marks Circuit and H02 marks Union City. |
|---|---|
| Charges | Offense, count, statute, and felony level or misdemeanor class. |
| Settings | Date, time, place, judge, purpose, and reset history when public. |
| Plea and Orders | The entered response and later judicial rulings, which may be separate events. |
| Disposition | Conviction, dismissal, acquittal, sentence, appeal, or another label in the actual order. |
The CCS entry date can differ from the day the court event occurred. Linked documents are available only when the public access rules and the system's document matrix permit them. The clerk keeps the official record behind the screen.
Randolph Criminal Court Codes
The Randolph local allocation rule routes criminal work between the county courts. Circuit Court receives murder, designated felony assignments, juvenile matters, and mental-health case types. Superior Court receives misdemeanors, infractions, ordinance matters, all Title 9 vehicle cases, and assigned felonies. Union City City Court is an active local venue for cases filed there.
Randolph Circuit Court is in Room 301 and can be reached at (765) 584-4011 or (765) 584-0645. Randolph Superior Court is in Room 302 at (765) 584-3309. Union City City Court is at 219 S. Howard Street and uses (765) 964-5968. The cause number controls, not a guess based on the charge alone.
Criminal Case Stages on the Docket
A Randolph County case often begins with a complaint or information, followed by an initial appearance or arraignment. Bond and counsel entries may follow. Pretrial motions, notices of setting, plea events, trial entries, judgment, sentence, and appeal or post-judgment work then build the CCS. Not every case uses every stage, and a plea and sentencing may occur on different dates.
Docket flow: Charge Filed › Arraignment › Pretrial Settings › Plea or Trial › Disposition
A motion is only a request. Look for the matching order before deciding what the court did. Likewise, a reset request does not move a hearing until the judge grants it and a new setting is entered.
Missing Randolph Criminal Documents
A blank document column can mean the image was never placed online, is older than current Odyssey coverage, or is limited to a party or attorney. It can also reflect a sealed or excluded record. MyCase alone cannot resolve that difference. Start with the Randolph Circuit Court Clerk in Room 201, 100 S. Main Street, Winchester, IN 47394.
Call (765) 584-4214 for the clerk's published contact route. A written request should identify the cause number, document description, entry date, requested date range, contact details, and whether a plain or certified copy is needed. Mail is available at the same Room 201 address. Phone contact can confirm the venue and fee, but it does not create a certified copy.
The county payment guidance is shown in the manifest image below. It helps distinguish the local payment route from a public CCS search.
The payment page requires a cause number and publishes channel-specific terms; it is not a substitute for reading the court's judgment and balance entries.
Randolph County Criminal Docket Courts
Randolph Circuit Court, Randolph Superior Court, and Union City City Court all feed searchable public information into MyCase. Circuit and Superior share one elected clerk, so there is no separate felony clerk and misdemeanor clerk. Local Rule LR68-AR1-701 assigns Level 1 through Level 5 felony filings by month and assigns other categories directly. A judge may also transfer work by consent under the rule.
Use the court field in the result. Room 301 handles Circuit settings, Room 302 handles Superior settings, and Union City handles its own 68H02 calendar. Winchester City Court was abolished at the end of 2023. A historical result can remain searchable, but a current citation must not be sent to the former court.
Randolph Bond and Setting Entries
Bond information is part of the criminal record, but it is not the same as case status. The local bail schedule provides starting amounts by offense class, while a later court order may change the amount, type, or conditions. Read the latest bond order and any forfeiture or release entry. Do not treat an early schedule amount as the current obligation.
- Arraignment
- A first formal stage addressing the charge, rights, plea, counsel, and bond.
- Continuance
- A court-approved move of a hearing to another date.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome of the case or an individual count.
- Capias
- Court process directing law enforcement to take a person into custody.
For a disputed date, compare the newest notice or order with the settings list and call the assigned court. The CCS preserves old settings as history even after a later reset.
Access Rules for Criminal Dockets
Indiana presumes access to ordinary court records, but protected identifiers, juvenile matters, mental-health records, sealed documents, and other excluded material may be withheld or redacted. An expunged case may stop appearing in an ordinary Randolph County criminal docket search. Absence is not proof that no record exists, and a restriction does not mean every unrelated entry may be hidden.
Key rules:
Indiana Access Rule 4 states the general public-access presumption.
Indiana Access Rule 5 lists confidential, sealed, excluded, and redacted material.
Indiana Access Rule 9 provides a verified request process for extraordinary access.
The official Rule 5 material is also the source for the Randolph criminal docket image below.
The rule explains why a public search may show limited metadata, a restricted label, or no image. Ask the clerk whether the issue is access, digitization, or retention before drawing a conclusion.
